Combat is rewarded by experience points which allow you to power up Wolverine in a way that suits your playing style. There's also an excellent lunge attack which allows you to lock onto an enemy and leap towards them from a distance. The key is linking combos and performing counters. The framerate can get a bit choppy, but on the whole the action remains fast and furious. There are light and heavy attacks, as well as throw moves and specials. Much of the action in X-Men Origins: Wolverine is based upon Sony's God Of War franchise.
You'll get about 10 hours of gameplay from X-Men Origins: Wolverine but plenty of collectables and statistic-based trophies will encourage a second play-through.
Players will encounter the "origins" of the likes of Gambit and Sabretooth - which, again, will delight or depress depending on your elitist status. On the third and final copter, you'll need to attack the blades by rapidly tapping the weak attack button.The game is directed via a series of flash-backs, which can get confusing, but the majority of the time works pretty well from a narrative perspective. Once they're dead, lunge to the copter, kill the pilots, and land on the tail of the next one. There are 3 more of these in the area if you move close enough, so try your best to make them spawn one by one. After the cut scene, the WENDIGO Prototype spawns. Toss the baddies off the side and make haste. Go up to the catwalk to pursue the sniper. Nearby, there are stairs up to the next level. All the way down and to the left, there's an Experienced 2 mutagen, which is very useful. You can dodge back and forth, but if things get rough, hide in one of the safe areas off to the left. There are a few enemies, and then a sniper sequence. From here you can drop back down and fling the gunners and Goliaths into the ocean. From here you can lunge to the gunner, and from there you can lunge chain over to the grenadier and grab one more Dog Tag. Up above, smash the crates and pull out the truck to climb up above.
When you finally land, go left and get another Dog Tag and then go right to climb the ladder. When you climb up to the level above, look to the right to grab a Dog Tag.įollow the path and turn on your Feral Vision to spot the next ledge. When they're all dead, turn on your Feral Vision to look for the ledge to jump to. In the next area there are absolutely tons of environmental kills, so use this as a chance to rack them up. Climb up the tower and slide down the zip line. Further down the road, a sniper will show up. Off to the right you'll find an area with a Vitality 2 mutagen, and get the "WoW" achievement.
